Film Aid Party in Baton Rouge

Friday, December 2, 2005, Turner Classic Movies and FilmAid International are hosting a fundraiser for the Hurricane Katrina victims living in Baton Rouge. There will be an outdoor screening of the New Orleans documentary Make It Funky! and there will be a private screening for evacuees on Saturday. This international program is working with local organizations to get this together in order to raise awareness, keeps spirits high, and hopefully raise some money. There will be local artists from New Orleans showcasing their art, as well as food, cocktails, and a fireworks show!

For anyone interested, its going to be held by the Shaw Plaza, North Boulevard Festival of Lights, in Downtown Baton Rouge. If anyone is interested, you should definitely check it out. I will be there, so I'll report on anything that happens at the festival.

If you cannot make it and still wish to make a donation, the Shelter From the Storm: A Concert for the Gulf Coast DVD is coming out on Tuesday from Fox. It costs about $20 and a minimum of $5 is going straight to the Red Cross & Salvation Army.
